pigs have a rich history and have played a vital role in American agriculture. Originally from County, England, they were brought to the US in the early 19th century. They were once called McKay , Thin Rind, Ring Middle, and Saddlebacks. But in the 1830s, they transformed into a new known as Wessex Saddleback pigs.
pigs were transported into America from County in England between 1825 and 1835. Some of the first imports were dubbed the McKay after a man by that name was believed to have brought these from England to America. The was a significant importation success in the Corn Belt between 1910 and 1920.

The aims of the Association include to: foster and encourage the breeding of pedigree pigs. maintain the purity and improve the various breeds of pigs. maintain a register and publish a herd book.
Expected Growth Rates. Because a eats approximately 4% of its body weight per day, they require a number of essential nutrients to meet their daily needs, i.e., water, carbohydrates, fats, protein (amino acids), minerals, and vitamins. With a proper diet, expect weight gains of about 1.5 to 1.7 pounds per day up to approximately 110 pounds.
